TV Updates

Slight change to the look of the blog. I've been wanting random photos that I've taken to appear at the top - and now they do! Now, back on topic...television.

Quite a few shows on the air right now that I'm really enjoying. I still look forward to Pretty Little Liars every week, and with all of the screen time that Toby has been getting in a towel, how can you not love it. Two shows that never fail to make me laugh out loud are Suburgatory and Cougar Town. I really wish I could be a combination of Dalia and Laurie, then again, maybe I am. I'm also pleasantly surprised how much I'm liking The Carrie Diaries. Yes, I was a fan of Sex and The City, but I'm not exactly this show's target demographic. Regardless, I think Anna Sophia Robb is fabulous as a young Carrie Bradshaw, and all of the 80s music is just icing on the cake.

A handful of shows have fallen into the category "shows I used to like, but now only watch out of habit." First is Glee. The story lines bore me, the characters do things that make absolutely no sense, and the music has become a snoozefest. Will I keep recording it? Of course. Will I watch it within a few days of when it airs....doubtful. Also in this category is Modern Family. It just doesn't make me laugh any longer. It seems as if it's the same jokes over and over, and they've all been done before (and it some cases done much better elsewhere.) Rounding out the category are New Girl, Nashville, Revenge, and Once Upon A Time.

In the category of shows that have officially been removed from my DVR - - The New Normal, 90210 (yes, I was still trying) and How I Met Your Mother.

I'm very much looking forward to the return of Smash. I've heard that the addition of Jennifer Hudson brings some much needed spark back to the show. I'm also looking forward to The Americans, and House of Cards. And, most importantly, only two more months until Game of Thrones. Oh Joffrey, how I've missed you and your evil ways.

In case you hadn't heard, shows that have officially been canceled are: Don't Trust the B in Apt 23, Ben and Kate,666 Park Avenue, and Last Resort. Shows that are on the verge of cancellation are: Happy Endings, Vegas, Deception, and Guys with Kids. Update your DVRs accordingly.

Last but not least, it's the time of year when TV networks are determining what pilots to develop for the next TV season. One of my favorite TV websites, TVline.com, has put together a very handy reference of pilot season terminology and a list of the pilots that are being developed. You're welcome.
