This...is American Idol

Getting geared up for two hour AI marathon! I just hope no one sings Whitney or Mariah and I'll be a happy camper. Since we've got a few minutes before the show starts, let's remember the best performance at this stage last season (and please note that I loved him from the very beginning!):




8:01 - I'm concerned that having 4 judges will make Simon have to rush through his comments. No likey....

8:02 - I don't think Ryan matches....blue shirt with dark purple sweater?

8:05 - Anoop for the win!

8:05 - Jackie Tohn singing "A Little Less Conversation" - the outfit is atrocius (sp?) she looks like Minnie Mouse meets Jane Fonda workout.

8:07 - Please make it end...

8:09 - Paula's eyes are barely open

8:14 - Sitting through all of these commercials is going to be rough....

8:16 - Ricky Braddy singing "A Song For You." He's really good, but he's going to be compared to Elliot for singing this song.

8:21 - Seriously...another commercial already?

8:27 - Alexis Grace doing "Never Loved a Man" by Aretha. How much do I wish she was wearing the bow hat from the inauguration!

8:29 - I like her...probably because she would make me look tan.

8:31 - Doogie Howser sighting!!

8:32 - I automatically don't vote for any contestant who holds up the number of fingers for their "number" - unless they are wearing kickass guyliner...

8:37 - Brent Keith - Ohio in the house! The blonde beard makes me think of Spencer Pratt so I automatically don't like him.

8:39 - His song is "Hicktown" - wow - Really really bad.

8:41 - I love when Simon is just staring off into the distance as the other judges talk.

8:42 - Brent's wife has some really bad hair.

8:49 - Stevie Wright singing "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift. She sounds out of breath and out of tune. If I can tell, it's not a good sign.

8:54 - ANOOP!

8:55 - He has eyebrows like Joe Jonas. Bad song choice - the backup singers did almost as much singing as he did.

9:00 - I made hot chocolate at the last commercial break. The good kind from William's Sonoma that is tiny chocolate shavings. Thanks Mom!

9:05 - Casey Carlson singing "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic." Painfully bad - she looks and sounds like a pageant contestant. Maybe she should try her Sarah Palin pageant walk.

9:06 - What's with all of the winks and stupid faces?

9:08 - You know when Paula says "you're a pretty girl" it's bad.

9:16 - Michael Sarver singing "I Don't Wanna Be" by Gavin Degraw. I never liked this song so it's not doing much for me. Why does he stretch every word? I'm sure there's some musical term for what he's doing, but I don't like it.

9:19 - I love when Paula mentions prior contestants and Simon has no idea who she's talking about.

9:21 - Anne Marie Boscovitch singing "Natural Woman" - she sounded a bit off to me so I think it may be the last we see of her. (To see an amazing performance of this song here's Kelly Clarkson's version from season 1)



9:33 - Stephen Fowler singing "Rock With You" - I think I like him, even if he does have Justin Guarini hair.

9:34 - I take back what I just said - he's not so good.

9:38 - Another commercial break - - talk amongst yourselves, I'll give you a topic. When the blind contestant sings in a week or two, how's he going to get on the stage and more importantly how does he ensure that he doesn't fall off the stage?

9:43 - Tatiana Del Toro singing "Saving All My Love For You" -- oh no she's doing Whitney. Never a good thing.

9:44 - "Vote for the Worst" is backing this girl, so maybe she'll actually make it through? She is entertaining, I'll give her that.

9:49 - Tatiana just said "America this is my dream and it's up to you to keep it alive." I'm not sure I can take the pressure. Now I have to vote non-stop for her all night! It's up to me!

9:54 - Danny Gokey (a.k.a dead wife guy) singing "Hero" by Mariah Carey. Ugh, not Mariah. He got the pimp spot (going last) so I'm gonna guess that the judges will love him and he'll be the top guy (just like the Producers want.)

9:56 - Paula is standing up dancing like she's at a Tesla concert. She's loaded.

9:57 - Danny just pointed at me through the TV. He thinks I'm a hero.

9:59 - On a side note, Michael Johns and Carly Smithson are performing on tomorrow night's show so something to look forward to!

10:00 - That's all folks. I'm gonna vote a few times for Alexis Grace (#3) cause she has cool Gwen Stefani hair and she's the only contestant who didn't make me wish I had the ability to fast forward. I guess I might also have to give Anoop a few votes too, just cause he's ANOOP.

Now turn over to TLC and watch "Toddlers and Tiaras" - it is must see TV!
