Afternoon Updates!

- I watched American Idol in a record 13 minutes last night. (how did I ever watch TV before having fast forward capabilities?) I really can't wait until they get the field narrowed down to people who can actually carry a tune. (I am sad that the only contestant I liked in last night's show gets cut in Hollywood!)

- If anyone watches Battlestar Gallactica, I'm hearing that the show premier this Friday will actually be 4 minutes longer that most DVRs will record, so adjust accordingly.

- Only 1 week until the premier of Lost. For viewers who need a refresher, be sure to watch the rerun of last season's finale tonight on ABC. Tonight's airing will incorporate "pop ups" to help explain the details.

- Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have revealed the name of their new baby girl: Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck.

- Macy’s and Nordstrom will be giving away cosmetics, skin care and perfumes next Tuesday (1/20) as part of a settlement involving price fixing on beauty products. $175 million in cosmetics will be given away first come, first served. Consumers will be able to choose one item per person until supplies are exhausted. Brands include Estée Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, Clarins, Chanel, Calvin Klein, L’Oréal and Christian Dior. The products include mascara, skin care, moisturizers and fragrances.
