TV Talk

Mom and I were talking last week about TV (shocking, I know...) and she asked if there was any show that I actually watched in "real time." While I don't typically wait days to watch a TV show, there are only two shows that I can think of that I make sure to watch the second they start. The two shows have absolutely nothing in common, and I watch them in real time for very different reasons. Game Of Thrones, and So You Think You Can Dance. One has dragons, the other has beautiful gay boys - so much in common.

I watch Game of Thrones in real time (thanks to Jessica's HBO password) so that I can read about it immediately afterward. For me, keeping up with the various characters and plotlines requires an abundance of homework.

I watch So You Think You Can Dance in real time because I'm obsessed with it. I watch every episode a minimum of 3 times. The first time I watch the whole way through, the second I become a judge, and the third I try and pay attention to the things I didn't focus on the first time. I also pay very close attention to the music. I never fail to download at least 10 songs per season, usually more. It's a great place to hear new music, performed by the actual artists (not like the terrible DWTS singers.)

So, tonight from 8 to 10, I'll be sitting on my couch starting a new season of SYTYCD. Mom....don't call.

In other TV news, the television "upfronts" are happening this week. Each network presents their new season to the critics, and in turn, the critics get to talk to the stars, see pilot episodes, etc...  During this time, the networks also officially announce what is renewed, and what is canceled.
