Since I'm watching the show live, figured I may as well type my thoughts as I go...
8:00 - Loving Cat's hair and dress...
8:02 - Tadd looks like a rooster.
8:05 - Jordan strives to be a Pussycat Doll. Great...go with that...
8:07 - Jordan and Tadd African Jazz: Liked it much more than I expected. A few incredibly awkward transitions in the routine, but they stayed in sync for most of it.
8:13 - They just mentioned that someone has the Quickstep this week - also known as the "kiss of death." Statistically, the duo with the Quickstep lands in the bottom three 75% of the time. (yes seriously, I know my SYTYCD statistics) Whoever "draws" the quickstep is definitely a duo that the producers will not be sad to see leave.
8:19 - Sasha and Alexander Contemporary: First off, I LOVE this song. The routine was good, really good. But, it should have been great. Not sure if it was the dancers or the choreography that didn't excite me, but nothing makes me want to immediately rewind.
8:29 - Broadway dancer Jess just happens to pick a Tyce Diorio broadway routine....I call Shenanigans.
8:30 - Kent (from last season) is assiting Tyce. WOO HOO! Hi Kent!
8:31 - Clarice and Jess Broadway: Are her legs like 20 feet long? Solid routine, typical Tyce broadway choreography.
8:40 - No surprise that Ryan was paired with Ricky. The producers will want these two to stick around as long as possible.
8:43 - Ricky and Ryan lyrical hip-hop: As impressed as I thought I would be. The choreography was soooo much better than the NappyTabs choreo like this in the past. The only thing that bothered me was Ryan's smile throughout. Rewinding now....
8:54 - ROBERT!!!!!
8:54 - Mitchell and Caitlyn Jazz: Didn't see a thing the girl did - Robert was on my TV screen with no shirt and eyeliner. 'Nuf said...
9:05 - Miranda and Robert. I already loathe this couple...
9:06 - Miranda and Robert Latin: One earring fell off at beginning of the dance and she continues to try and pull off the other - very distracting. Not a fan...not a fan at all.
9:17 - Wadi and Missy Jazz - Felt a bit sloppy to me overall. Wonder how they would have done with a bit more practice time.
9:23 - Wish I understood why the producers still try and make it seem random that the couples pick dances out of a hat. Melanie just happens to get a Travis Wall contemporary routine? I want her to do well, but too much obvious producer manipulation could backfire. "Stop trying to make fetch happen!"
9:28 - Melanie and Marko contemporary: Gorgeous.
9:39 - Ashley and Chris Hip-Hop: Her faces killed this routine for me. Would love to see Comfort tackle this choreography (which I thought was strong.)
9:46 - And the only ballroom dancer gets the ballroom routine... Here's hoping she can make Nick look good so that he sticks around (I like him!)
9:51 - Nick and Ivetta Quickstep: Very entertaining. Last dancers in the show and a World Champion gets to perform in a genre that she's been doing for 24 years. These two are not going anywhere (so please disregard the statement above about this being the dance of death)
My predictions for bottom 3 couples tomorrow night are Robert and Miranda, Ashley and Chris, and Jordan and Tadd. I'm gonna guess that we'll be saying goodbye to Chris and Miranda.
