RIP Michael Jackson

I'm still quite shocked about the death of Michael Jackson. So many of his songs take me back to a specific point in my childhood. Dancing to Beat It in the basement with Stacey, being afraid to go to bed after seeing the Thriller video, watching Matt (and friends) lipsync to We Are The World. Regardless of your opinon of his personal life, the man was a musical genius and should be remembered as such.

One of my most vivid memories was watching Mom's face as Michael performed at the 25th Anniversary Motown event, where he first performed the moonwalk. I was a little young to appreciate the performance, but in hindsight, no wonder it changed the face of music and dance. We had just gotten a VCR, so being able to record this was amazing, and then watching it over and over was the icing on the cake. In case you've never seen it, check it out below:

Two things.....I didn't remember the glove being so big! And, Ian and I watched the moon walk part over and over and he is now practicing it as I type!

I'll never forget seeing Thriller for the first time at Laces skating rink. They made everyone sit in the center circle and played iton a big screen at one end of the rink--I was terrified!!!!
