How I read so much online....

Many people have asked me lately how I can possibly read so much online and still have time for anything else. The answer is simple - - I use a feed reader!

Without getting too uber technical on you, most major websites syndicate their content as an RSS (Rich Site Summary) feed to anyone who wants it. The feed retreives the latest content from sites and pulls it back to you. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually - it all comes to you.

To read these RSS feeds, you need either a Feed Reader or News Aggregator software. There are a ton of free web-based feed readers - my personal favorites are google reader and bloglines. It does take a bit of time to get it set up initially, but it's so worth it. Now, all in one place I can see all of the new CDs that the library has added to their catalog, get up to the minute celebrity gossip, and know immediately when a TV show is canceled.

If you want more info let me know - I'll even happily set it up for you!!
